I design modern sewing patterns and sewing courses for bags and accessories that not only look great but also guide you step by step through your sewing project. My goal is for you to be able to say with pride at the end: “I sewed this bag myself, and it was fun!”

Bags and Seams Design is a pattern label from Switzerland. Here you’ll find patterns for bags and accessories, as well as sewing courses for bags, featuring detailed, easy-to-follow instructions that make sewing easier—whether you’re just starting out or have already completed many projects.

It’s important to me that you don’t sit in front of your sewing machine wondering what to do next, but that you know exactly what to do. That’s why I place a special emphasis on clear explanations, easy-to-follow steps , and patterns that are thoroughly tested before publication.

Because I’m convinced that anyone can sew great bags. All it takes is the right instructions, a little courage, and some support when questions come up.

Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’m the founder of Bags and Seams Design. I’m a mom, a coach, a cat lover, a seamstress, and completely addicted to sewing bags. I’ve always been creative, but my greatest passion is sewing bags. After many years of sewing experience, test sewing, and selling bags and children’s clothing, I began developing my own patterns in 2022. Today, these patterns are turned into tutorials that motivate and support you—and show you that sewing bags is just so much fun!

My goal: Bags that you’ll really enjoy sewing and using!

In my free time, I spend time with my family, play volleyball, or enjoy city trips!

As a person, I fully support this project that is so close to my heart!

I want to approach our collaboration with this sense of humanity —to learn together as equals and grow alongside you! Comments or opinions that violate human rights have no place with me.
I offer patterns and classes that are well thought out and always tested —because it makes a huge difference! It’s important to me that you have fun sewing and end up with a great result!
I love critical thinking and new ideas—but I need people to understand that I can’t—or don’t want to—implement everything in my business.
Cohesion within our community is very important to me—that’s why I regularly support other designers and seamstresses in gaining visibility, and I’m open to collaborations. I’m not one to think in terms of competition. I believe there’s a place for everyone.

Fun Facts About Me

I’m “ambivert” (I didn’t even know that term until recently)
That means I’m equally introverted (I LOVE sitting alone in my sewing room and just pottering away for hours) and extroverted (concerts, workshops, people… totally my thing!). That’s why my hobby, combined with the classes, is totally my world! I draw strength from both!

Even as a child, I was featured in two creative books
Creativity was, so to speak, in my blood from the very beginning—so I was already “programmed” for it in my mother’s two books.

Sewing was never part of the plan
And then came the moment when I held my first, hand-sewn bag in my hands….the rest is history! It’s precisely for this feeling that I run my business—and I’d love to share my hard-earned knowledge and experience with you!

British humor, please—the drier, the better!
Laughing and having fun together is very important to me. I love dry English humor, which I got to experience regularly at stand-up comedy shows during my nearly 6 years in England. And I’m also great at laughing at myself!

I’m outgoing, but not shy
When you meet me for the first time, I’ll probably give you a hug right away and tell you my life story. That’s just how I am. Understandably, this is too much for some people, and as I’ve gotten older, I’ve tried to approach situations more sensitively. Speaking on camera, however, is a whole different story. It took me a very long time to get over my fear of it, and it’s still not one of my favorite things to do.

I’m a total perfectionist
It was sewing that finally taught me to let things go sometimes—or to accept that one crooked seam in the pocket. Okay, “accept” isn’t quite the right word… “not losing much sleep over it” might be more accurate…
But you’re the one who benefits most from this trait—in my classes and my sewing patterns!
