Sometimes you already have the right fabric on hand, but you don’t want to sew the same bag again. With the Gym Bag Add-On, you can repurpose the Vanessa Shopper or Vroni MIDI Bag to sew practical drawstring bags in two sizes. The Gym Bag Add-On is a digital pattern extension with instructions. You’ll receive an add-on for the Vanessa Shopper and the Vroni MIDI Bag—not a finished product or a complete base pattern.
Important: You’ll also need the “Shopper Vanessa” and/or “Vroni MIDI Bag” patterns. These basic patterns are not included in the add-on.

This way, you can continue using patterns you’re already familiar with and still sew a new style of bag—without having to learn how to tackle a completely new project.
The Gym Bag Add-On expands the Vanessa Shopper and the Vroni MIDI Bag with new bag variations. Using the instructions, you can transform the existing bag patterns into gym bags, tote bags, project bags, or preschool bags. This is convenient because you’re working with a familiar base pattern and simply adding the new bag shape. You continue to use the pattern pieces you’re already familiar with, saving time on learning new techniques while still achieving a different result. The add-on is also a great option if you want to make good use of fabric scraps, your favorite fabrics, or fabric combinations you’ve already planned.
The Vanessa tote bag is the larger version. Measuring approximately (H/W/D) 35 × 40 × 11 cm, it’s perfect for adults, sports, everyday use, shopping, travel, or creative projects. It has room for sports gear, yarn, crochet supplies, embroidery projects, fabric cuts, or small travel essentials.
The Vroni MIDI bag is more compact. Measuring approximately (H/W/D) 28 × 30 × 9 cm, it’s perfect for kids, preschool, school, or small craft projects. It can hold a lunchbox, a change of clothes, small toys, craft supplies, or a manageable creative project.
This add-on is ideal for seamstresses who already own the Vanessa shopper and/or the Vroni MIDI bag and want to sew new variations from them. If you’ve already sewn one of the basic patterns, you can continue working with familiar fundamentals. You won’t be starting from scratch, but you’ll get a new bag shape for different everyday situations. This project is well within the capabilities of a confident beginner—provided you’ve already sewn simple bags and work carefully. It’s easy to make with a standard home sewing machine.
With this add-on, you can create bags for a variety of uses. The Vanessa version works well as a gym bag, casual bag, shopping bag, travel bag, or project bag. The Vroni MIDI version is perfect as a preschool bag, small school bag, kids’ bag, or compact bag for craft projects. This add-on also makes for a great gift: You can sew a preschool bag to match a backpack, put together a craft bag for a creative friend, or create a lightweight everyday bag using your favorite fabrics.
You can make this add-on using many of the same fabrics that are suitable for the Vanessa or Vroni MIDI. Canvas gives the tote bag more structure and is ideal for everyday use, sports, or shopping. Cotton fabrics work well for lightweight totes, gift bags, or kids’ bags. Corduroy adds structure and has a softer feel. Coated fabrics or lightweight outdoor fabrics are a good choice if you want the bag to be more durable or easier to care for. Using fabric scraps, labels, plot designs, or embroidered motifs, you can customize each drawstring bag to match your child, the occasion, your favorite fabric, or bags you’ve already sewn.

You’ll receive additional cutting and assembly instructions for the new variations. The basic patterns for the Vanessa shopper and the Vroni MIDI bag are not included. You’ll need to have these on hand separately.
