Hi, I’m Sarah, the founder of Bags and Seams Design. I am a mum, coach, cat lover, seamstress \u2014 and completely obsessed with making bags! I have always been a creative person, but sewing bags is by far my greatest passion. After many years of sewing, pattern testing, making and selling bags and children’s clothing, I started developing my own sewing patterns in 2022.Today, those patterns have grown into detailed tutorials and courses designed to encourage, support and inspire you \u2014 and to show you just how much fun sewing your own bags can be. <\/p>

My goal? Bags you’ll genuinely enjoy making and love using!<\/b>

When I am not sewing, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing volleyball and exploring new cities.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Bags and Seams Design is a project that is very close to my heart, and I want that to come across in everything I do.<\/p>\n

  • I want our community<\/strong> to be a place where we can learn from one another, share ideas and grow together as equals. There is no room here for comments or opinions that undermine the rights or dignity of others.  <\/li>\n
  • Every pattern and course iscarefully developed and thoroughly tested<\/strong>. I want you to enjoy the sewing process \u2014 and to end up with a result you are genuinely proud of. <\/li>\n
  • I love constructive feedback and different perspectives. At the same time, I cannot \u2014 and do not want to \u2014 implement every suggestion in my business. That is simply part of running a small creative business. <\/li>\n
  • Community<\/b> is incredibly important to me. I regularly support other designers and makers by helping them gain visibility, and I am always open to collaborations. I do not see other designers as competition. I believe there is room for all of us. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    I am an ambivert<\/i><\/b>.I did not even know that word existed until recently!I am equally happy spending hours on my own in my sewing room, quietly pottering away, and being surrounded by people at concerts, workshops and events. Sewing somehow brings both sides of me together \u2014 and I love that. <\/p>\n

    Even as a child, I was featured in two creative books<\/i><\/b>Creativity was, so to speak, in my blood from the very beginning \u2014 so I was already \u201cprogrammed\u201d for it in my mother\u2019s two books. <\/p>\n

    Sewing was never part of the plan<\/i><\/b>And then one day, I held my first handmade bag in my hands… The rest, as they say, is history.That feeling \u2014 holding something you’ve made yourself \u2014 is exactly why I do what I do today. And I love being able to share the knowledge and experience I have built up over the years with you.<\/p>\n

    British humor, please\u2014the drier, the better!
    <\/b><\/i>Laughing and having fun together is important to me. I developed a real love of dry British humour during the nearly six years I spent in England, when I regularly went to stand-up comedy shows. And I am very good at laughing at myself, too. <\/p>\n

    I am outgoing, but not shy<\/b>When we meet for the first time, there’s a good chance I will give you a hug and tell you my life story within the first few minutes. That is just me.I know that can be a little much for some people, and as I have got older, I have learned to be a little more sensitive to that. Speaking in front of a camera, however, is a completely different story. It took me a very long time to get over my fear of it \u2014 and, to be honest, it is still not my favourite thing to do!  

    I am a total perfectionist<\/span><\/i>Sewing has taught me that sometimes you just have to let things go. Like that one slightly wonky seam on the pocket. Although \u201caccept\u201d might be putting it a little strongly… \u201cNot losing too much sleep over it\u201d is probably more accurate. But there’s one person who definitely benefits from my perfectionist tendencies: you! I put that attention to detail into every sewing pattern and every course I create.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
